3D scanners
A 3D scanner is a type of measuring machine that analyzes a physical body and creates a digitized copy of it.
There are two types of 3D scanners:
1. Contact. This method is based on the direct contact of the device with the analyzed object.
2. Contactless. Such devices work with light rays, ultrasound, etc.
For non-contact types, two existing modifications should be distinguished: active and passive. The first ones direct directed waves (often a beam of light or a laser) to the body under study and catch their reflection for subsequent conversion into a digitized copy. Laser modifications analyze the surrounding space or objects, collecting data on geometric shapes and even color. The 3d laser scanner can be used not only for prototyping bulky parts, it also has a demand among video game developers and film industry figures.
Passive modifications function in a slightly different way: instead of purposefully emitting waves, they use ambient light. The predominant part of this type of device determines the visible area – the available radiation of the environment.
