Hephestos 2 3D Printer

Hephestos 2 It is the second printer of the DIY category (Do it yourself, "Do it yourself"). Developed on the basis of one of the most popular models in the RepRap community, the Prusa i3 printer – it has become a new round of evolution on the way to creating a professional printer without losing the original spirit. BQ relied on a new printer architecture, which allowed to significantly expand the volume of the working area to the following parameters: (x)210 mm x (y)297 mm x (z)220 mm.

Hephestos 2 is an extremely stable printer. To achieve this result, plastic printed parts were replaced with metal ones. The use of aluminum and steel gave the device a professional appearance and real structural strength.

The Hephestos 2 is equipped with a new inductive sensor that measures this distance with maximum accuracy. The sensor consists of an electric coil that generates a magnetic field. When the platform approaches it so much that the distance becomes critical, a small red LED lights up, signaling to you that you do not need to move further. This solution allows you to perform manual alignment with the highest possible accuracy. The printer is also equipped with an auto-leveling function: the sensor measures the angle of inclination of the platform, then adjusts the movement of the motors proportionally, ensuring an ideal printing result even on an inclined surface.

All the main electronic components of the Hephestos 2 printer are integrated into a single board: the Zoom Mega 3D. This board, developed by BQ, contains new functions and has the ability to connect via a micro-USB connector. It is able to provide to a 3D printer smooth movement of all motors and guarantees a better heat sink, compared to previous solutions. In addition, we have developed electronic control components for the new graphic LCD display. Now its interface has become more intuitive and greatly simplifies your work.
